The Blowing Stone’ Nettle & Blackberry Gin is the fourth in the Ashdown Series and is a tribute to Alfred’s first victory over the Danish Vikings.
Using the original London Dry recipe as a base, batch-distilled using a three-part process. Also, a blend of beautifully balanced botanicals which could be found locally during the middle ages. Including, nettle and blackberries to create a sweet and aromatic fruity beauty.
Tasting Notes: Fragrant with a bold juniper heart alongside sweet apple, herbs, citrus peel and spices. Softly spicy with some warmth and a delicate ginger zing before a complex, rounded finish.
This beautiful hedgerow gin uses infusions of two important Saxon ingredients; tender young nettles, used abundantly in Anglo Saxon and Viking dishes and ripe blackberries which were enjoyed as a treat. The ‘brymble’ bushes were often used as a line of defence against invaders.
